Publisher Description: In a dozen taut sequences, the book explores metaphorical and actual prisons and revolutions through references to political captivity, torture, and despotism as well as philosophical heroism through nuanced, striking, and heartfelt language. Fragmentation, affect, repetition, and riffs on proper names, places, dates, and facts construe a haunting verbal landscape for readers to navigate. Oscarine Bosquet was born in Paris in 1964, and is the author of Participe Pr sent (Le Bleu de Ciel, 2008) and Chromo ( ditions Fourbis, 1996). She teaches at the art school of Brest in Britanny, France. Sarah Riggs has published several other books of poetry, translation, and essays, and teaches at NYU Paris. Ellen LeBlond-Schrader teaches avant-garde movements in Paris and translates contemporary poetry as well as art criticism. |
