Contributor Bio(s): Tom Alexander Jr: - "Tom Alexander Jr. is passionate about creating a bright future for all youth, especially African American young males. Throughout his own life, he has worked to make a difference in the next generation. During his 21 years of serving in the United States Army, in his off-duty time, he participated in mentorship programs and youth ministries around the world. Currently, Tom is an English language arts teacher at Grace E. Metz Middle School, where he founded SAGE, an after-school program for at-risk males that provides support, assistance, guidance, and exposure to the young men at his school. In addition, he serves as a coach at his school and in the community. Tom personally understands the importance of helping the next generation of African American males prepare for the challenges that will face them. |
