All of our bargain books are brand new, perfectly readable and represent a tremendous value! The bargain books are, however, publisher overstocks and remainders that TRW purchases at deep discounts. As a result, they may have a small mark through the UPC bar code or a small mark on the side of the book. This is simply to mark the books so they cannot be sent back to a publisher. Because of this, bargain books are non returnable to TRW unless they are damaged. Please consider this before ordering.

K-Gr 2—Full-page color photos of a diverse group of adorable kids are the most appealing element of this series, which helps early readers learn about building character and social skills. The books' word counts range from around 70 to a little over 250 words each, and the layouts (which typically have a sentence or two on the left and the photo on the right) are clean and easy to read. Some titles, such as Integrity and Honesty, define concepts and describe the associated behaviors. Others, such as Sharing and Friends, focus on suggestions for developing social skills. Dialogue bubbles voiced by cartoon creatures ask questions or suggest behaviors. The depicted social scenarios are age-appropriate. Most titles include activity pages with quizzes, exercises, or actions readers can practice. The content in this set is standard fare, but the titles are so attractive that they will draw an audience.

K-Gr 2—This set of books covers different social skills in simple, clear text and short sentences that young children will be able to understand. The pictures featured are relevant and modern and show kids interacting, completing work, and playing with current technology such as tablets and video games. Various questions let readers assess whether they have the social skill mentioned, and numerous examples are given of children who are properly displaying the social skill. A different cartoon character appears as a type of mascot in each book and speaks directly to the audience via word bubbles, which young readers are likely to enjoy. Links to websites lead to stories and activities to help parents, educators, and students work to develop and improve social skills. Small misspellings are present in some of the books. A good set of resources to use with small children who are just starting to learn about these concepts and with kids who may need a brief reminder. Those seeking similar books to use in conjunction with this collection can look to Capstone's "Way to Be!" series.—Selenia Paz, Helen Hall Library, League City, TX
