Whatever it is, it wakes up Clovis Crawfish from a long nap. Whatever it is, it frightens his friends, Christophe Cricket, Lizette Lizard, and Rene Rainfrog. Clovis knows what it is. He tells his friends not to worry because it is only a poule d'eau, a water chicken, by the name of Paillasse. Paillasse, which means "clown", quickly becomes friends with the rest of the bayou creatures. The fun is soon interrupted with the news that Clothilde Catfish is trapped inside a hollow tree stump! Will Clovis, Paillasse, and their friends be able to save Clothilde? Mary Alice Fontenot, recognized as the children's author on Cajun culture, created the wetland characters of Clovis and his friends more than thirty years ago. |
