Because an infant is not merely a small adult, an infant autopsy in not simply a small adult autopsy. Specific procedures, factors, and considerations must be accounted for as part of the process. Data obtained from an infant autopsy, in a medicolegal context, should all but eliminate cases of apparent SIDS or "unexplained infant deaths."
