Publisher Description:
Washington County, Oregon, is one of the most sought-after places to live in the United States. Its rich history has helped form its Northwestern identity. This once lumber- and farmland-dominated county has grown into one of the most significant high-technology and sports-apparel centers in the United States. Over 200 images provide this book's reader with a visual history of Washington County from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century.

Contributor Bio(s): Sommers, Arthur: - This is coauthor Arthur Sommers's sixth book to be published by Arcadia. His previous books were about Placer County, California. He moved from Sacramento to Hillsboro in 2016 and started volunteering at the Washington County Museum in 2017. He saw the over 30,000 images in the museum's collection and decided to attempt a book on Washington County. Coauthor Karen Kearns is also a volunteer at the Washington County Museum. She began working in the museum's research library several years ago after taking a class in archaeology at a local college. She has a bachelor of arts degree in science and worked as a nuclear medicine technologist. Karen moved from Chicago with her husband and two sons to Washington County in 1999. Her whole family enjoys learning about history.
