All of our bargain books are brand new, perfectly readable and represent a tremendous value! The bargain books are, however, publisher overstocks and remainders that TRW purchases at deep discounts. As a result, they may have a small mark through the UPC bar code or a small mark on the side of the book. This is simply to mark the books so they cannot be sent back to a publisher. Because of this, bargain books are non returnable to TRW unless they are damaged. Please consider this before ordering.

The cover of this book alone recommends it as a gift for parents of a new baby. Inside is a collection of universal hopes for a child (""I hope you will always be curious. / I hope you will never forget how to be silly""), accompanied by realistic paintings of idealized scenes of children playing or spending time with their families. Parents may enjoy reading--and explaining--this adult-themed book to children. Copyright 2003 Horn Book Guide Reviews

PreS-Gr 2-Sorensen's art is filled with beauty and the innocence of childhood, and Tobias's sentiments are those that adults would like to pass on to their children. The text opens with: "I hope you will have moments when you're so happy, you'll feel the sun is shining from inside you." The scene shows a boy running into a full-bleed expanse of water. In the pages that follow, children and adults of different ethnic backgrounds interact, and an adult voice expresses a hope for the child. The settings are of calm interiors or of lush, rural exteriors. Children play by the woods with a wagon: "I hope you will never forget how to be silly." A youngster is shown completely absorbed in a book: "I hope you will love to read." The light-splattered art, so rich in dense color and alive with visible brush strokes, remains focused on emotions and on human interactions, so that while it invariably captures specific moments and images, it speaks of universal truths. While this book will not invoke exuberant demands for repeat readings, it will be cherished in quiet, thoughtful moments.-Martha Topol, Traverse Area District Library, Traverse City, MI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
