All of our bargain books are brand new, perfectly readable and represent a tremendous value! The bargain books are, however, publisher overstocks and remainders that TRW purchases at deep discounts. As a result, they may have a small mark through the UPC bar code or a small mark on the side of the book. This is simply to mark the books so they cannot be sent back to a publisher. Because of this, bargain books are non returnable to TRW unless they are damaged. Please consider this before ordering.

Gr 5-7-These three rivers have had an enormous impact on their surroundings and these books attempt to explain their importance. Each one gives an overview of its subject, including geological, geographical, and environmental features, and contains maps and color and black-and-white photos and reproductions. Colorado focuses on the course of the river and its related landforms, including the Grand Canyon. There is also an extensive section on dams and their ability to produce hydroelectric power, as well as on the many irrigation canals and ditches built along the river. The ancient peoples of the area are described, as are Spanish and American explorers. Tigris and Euphrates has a small opening section about the rivers themselves, but the rest of the text is virtually a history lesson on the region, which has sustained such ancient cultures as Babylonia and Assyria. Whitcraft also includes the modern nations' fight for control of the rivers. Sidebars contain interesting tidbits of information. The concise and timely facts will be useful for reports.-Kristen Oravec, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Strongsville, OH Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
