Publisher Description:
This is the second edition of the textbook for the one year apprenticeship titled "An Introduction to Shamanism" presented by The American Shamanism Movement. This edition was written by Rebekah Laughing Crow Gamble and approved by the community before publication. Purchase of this text does not purchase the program or guarantee completion of the program. This program was designed to help complete beginners learn about shamanism, animism and other earth-based practices with the intent of clarifying these topics, helping to prevent abuse and improve ethical standards in the community, and assisting individuals in developing a direct, personal connection to the spiritual world in a safe, practical and beneficial way. This course also provides information to help the participant decide if a shamanic path is something they would like to explore and if so which tradition is most applicable for them. The eleven lessons included provide cultural information, reflection questions for applying this information in one's daily life, and exercises aimed at developing a direct relationship with oneself, the earth and elements, and the spiritual world. Those who choose to complete this prerequisite program may choose to continue to the next three year-long apprenticeship programs presented by the American Shamanism Movement, may find and follow a more traditional path of shamanism, or may discover that this is not the path for them. All are welcome to join the Movement's online community and participate in our open community events. These opportunities are further described inside.
