Publisher Description:
You've heard of The Dells and I'm sure you've heard of The Temptations but let me tell you something about Member's Only. The name doesn't ring a bell does it? I didn't think so. We didn't make it to the big time like some of those jokas' but we did make a dent in music history. Five men from diverse backgrounds and situations all came together to formulate one of the sweetest sounds you ever heard. I, Benny "Velvet Rose" Pryor was the smooth one out of the group, which explains why I have so many damn children and the sole reason why I left so many broken hearts behind. Then you had Willie "Po' Man" Jenkins. Po' Man was the jokester of the group, but he was also the cheapest. He would steal the gristle off your plate before you even blinked good. Of course, we had the rowdy one, which was Raymond 'Razor Mouth Slick' Hathaway. This fool would carve you up like a Thanksgiving turkey and then shrug his shoulders at it like it really didn't faze him. We took him straight out the 'Chi', but we couldn't take the 'Chi' outta him. There was the other ladies' man besides myself, which was Drexler 'Dick Em' Down' Davis. That man had a wife that was very dedicated and loyal, but he couldn't keep his fly zipped if you sealed it with crazy clue. To balance out all of our foolishness, Ronnie 'Papa' Willow was the rational one. He managed to talk sense into everybody but his woman who constantly popped up and showed out every chance she got. We named her ole worrisome self 'Pop Rocks' because she was always popping up out of nowhere. The five of us had some of the craziest times you could ever think of, but I wouldn't take none of it back. Music was the one thing in our lives that we managed to do somewhat right. With that being said, there were a whole lot of things that we did wrong. Some of them would have tragic consequences later on. In the midst of all this chaos, we decided to take one last hurrah in our final stages of life. None of us knew when we would be taken out, but God had a plan. After devising a meet-up point, we ventured out onto the road for what would be our final curtain call. On this journey through life you make a lot of mistakes. This was our chance to not only correct those mistakes, but to redeem what was left behind. From Chicago to Alabama with a handful of memories and pocket full of lies, we finally understood where life had led us and why. Come and grab a front row seat to the final show in Members Only.
