Publisher Description:
This book is a poetic autobiography chronicling the author's life while growing up in the segregated South during the volatile yet liberating sixties and seventies; his eventual move out west to California; his subsequent incarceration, and introduction to the State of California penal system; which culminated into his necessary atonement; release, and his eventual, remarkable re-indoctrination into mainstream American Society. This author's ability to recall and pen those compelling and transformationing moments literally draws and holds the reader in suspense and in anticipation as each chapter is approached. The gifting he carried with him into those prisons, (creative writing), was nurtured and matured into some of the most soul stirring, educational and inspirational poetry penned in our present time The famous quotes and euphemistic sayings of various poets, literary scholars and people of renown placed perfectly during suspenseful episodes in this book further compels the reader to reflect upon the wisdom contained in it. The title of the book, "Beyond Theze Wallz", is representative of the prison walls faced by the author and others while there, yet speaks metaphorically of the invisible walls that many of us never see. Those walls that are erected in us due to the things we are exposed to as children in our families and communities, that tend to impede or stop us from attaining our innermost dreams and desires in life. The author's clever descriptions of his own reckless wanderings from good to bad; from right to wrong; from light to darkness, and the arduous task of returning to, and surrendering to the very best in himself again through the daily conscious connection with his CREATOR penetrates the heart and leaves an indelible impact on the very soul of any discerning reader. As a preview into how the book begins and a view of the kind of energy that sustains it; this is how it ends, with this poem," Beyond Theze Wallz": "BEYOND THEZE WALLZ" When we were born, we came into this world blank or empty, the things around us made impressions on you and me. We did not choose our families, cities, or communities, yet these things shaped us all with very unique idiosyncrasies. The way we talk, walk, our manners like thank you and please, the food that we like, no mayo, mustard, pickles and cheese. If we were born into homes of hate, hate is what we see intently, if we were born into peace, peace we pursue relentlessly. If we were born into dysfunction, molestation or abuse, this can last for generations if we don't decide to call a truce. If my grandfather was a pimp, and my mother was a prostitute, this can go on forever if we are not given a better substitute. Generations of men and women in and out of these prisons, more time in there than out, creating major family schisms. So with this poem I make a mass appeal to us all, let us do all the work we must do to get "BEYOND THEZE WALLZ." KBA
