Publisher Description:
This '600 Theory Test Questions for Learner Drivers' book has primarily been prepared with learners in mind who are preparing for their driving Theory Test. It is not intended to mimic the official Driving Standards Agency theory test in which the questions are actually published and which pupils can learn parrot fashion. By learning in that way they can pass the test almost by default without any real understanding of the subject of driving. Conscientious pupils will want to satisfy themselves that they actually have sufficient understanding of the theory of driving which will in due course make them better drivers and therefore safer drivers. Its' main function is to provide a structured working platform to assist learners in studying for the Driving Standards Agency Theory Test (multiple choice element). It does this by means of a series of comprehensive quizzes, complete with answers, based upon the required reading necessary to ensure a sound basic knowledge of driving which will lead to a first time pass. The first 550 questions comprise 10 banks of 55 questions each, all of which are supplied with correct answers. Each bank of 55 questions is subdivided into 15 on a mixture of road sense and the Highway Code only, with 35 on general driving knowledge and a further 5 on road signs. There is no particular difference in the fundamental nature of the questions in either of the first two groups. The 15 question section has just three options in the answers, only one of which is correct. However, the 35 question section can have up to six options in the answers with several of them being correct, thus requiring a little more thought and understanding to get the answer right. At the end of each bank of questions there are two real life road scenes containing potential hazards. These are included to test the readers' powers of observation, which will help with the Hazard Awareness element of the Theory Test. It should be noted that in real life due to various conditions, especially the weather, the views you will have will not always be perfect. Strong sunlight, glare, poor light, poor eye focus and glass reflections can all contribute to less than satisfactory vision. Consequentially the images contained in this book have been shown as they were taken and have not been enhanced in any way. There is an additional set of 55 randomly selected questions towards the back of the book forming a mock test. These are also provided with correct answers in order that pupils can perform a self assessment to help decide whether they are ready for the real thing. To get maximum benefit from this book the pupil is advised to work through the series of questions progressively by seeking the answers in the various reference books recommended for study by the D.S.A. By this means the pupil will effectively cover all the required reading to ensure eventual success in the theory test. As an added incentive a section has been included in this book showing the benefits of learning to drive.
