Publisher Description:
Today we arrived at a not so well known beautiful picturesque corner in Jaffa that was established by American Christians and later developed by German Templars. Something from this interesting past is kept in the charm of this place. We heard the stories of the Americans who wanted to settle in Israel in order to bring about salvation, and we heard the story of the German Templars rebuilding this area after the departure of the Americans. The Germans were expelled from the land of Israel by the British during World War II since they supported Nazi Germany. During our tour in the colony, we visited the Maine Friendship House, a restored building which contains a small museum of the History of the American Colony. We also visited Park Hotel where inside, in the Baron hall, there are displays of the history of Beit Emanuel, the former name of the house. You can rent rooms at this unique hotel. To end our tour we visited the beautiful Immanuel Church.
