Publisher Description: Through a magnificent poetic diary of his public service experience, Mark Cleavenger humanitizes the tremendous task he shouldered as both a police officer and lifeguar. Bringing delicately intrinsic subjects into poems, he shares the candiness of atrocities witnessed first-hand, as well as the joy of wonders he modestly writes off as 'doing his job'. This book shares a perspective I would otherwise take for granted. Sophia Gonzalez de La Cruz, Case Worker, Los Angels County. This unique collection of a "life in pose," is a piercing look into the sould of a public servant with not only conscious - but heart. Each piece is an amazing journey into the soul of a man. The writings take you through the gambit of human emotions and experience; love found and lost, pain, joy, heroism, insecurity, fear and courage. It is insightfully inspired and personally, it was a glimpse into a world I see every day yet will never touch. By bearing his should in his writings, Mark Cleavenger shares with all, the weight felt when one is truly committed. Not only worth the read, this is a collection to be shared. Dr. S. Cooke, Professor of Sociology |
