Publisher Description: Something different for children; Baker's Dozen - children do you know what a baker's dozen is? It is thirteen loaves of bread well I have given you thirteen stories for you to read and enjoy - myths and legends from days of long ago re-told for todays' children; not just stories but information that gives you the opportunity to research further and also ideas for further projects. These tales delighted me when I was a child but reader that was quite a long time ago. Read about Poseidon/Neptune the God of the Sea in ancient legend; of the mighty Hercules and Thor the Norse God; stories of knights and princesses; good magic and witches who cast evil spells. Romulus and Remus on which the foundation of Rome began. There is also a very old tale that is the basis for the well loved children's story Cinderella. Stories from many lands that when written it was difficult to reach but today it is so easy. I wonder how many of you have been to Spain, Italy and France and have any of you been lucky to cruise on the river Nile. When I was a little girl it would have been hard to believe that one day travelling would be so easy. Read and enjoy the stories and perhaps I will try to find more for you. I have added one extra a story from our own country the tale of the patron saint of England Saint George. Happy reading |
