Publisher Description: Maurice Chase Burritt (1883-1959) was an American Agriculturist and professor of the Department of Pomology at Cornell University. In 1908 he was graduated from Cornell University. He was a vice-director and later director of Extension, Cornell University from 1917 until 1924. He was a member of the board of the Western New York Fruit Growers Cooperative Packing Association in 1924. He was also the director and fiscal officer of the Grange League Federation from 1924 until 1928. From 1932 until 1939 he was the president of New York State Public Service Commission. At the commission he was a strong proponent of land planning through control of rural electrification. Burritt was also the owner and operator of Beechwood Farm, Hilton, New York. His works include: Apple Growing (1912) and The County Agent and the Farm Bureau (1922). |
