BEING STELLAR is a picture book for early grades that emphasizes self-discovery and curiousity. Stellar Dendrite is a snowflake who journeys from the sky to the ground, encountering other snow crystals along the way, including gruff graupel, sweet sleet, artistic frost and philosophical rime. The cast of characters help Stellar learn something about herself, while simultaneously teaching young readers about snow crystals and snow science. The beautifully illustrated artwork inspires the imagination of young readers as well as represents the details of different snow crystals, further explained in the glossary of terms. Stellar learns through her journey from the sky that she is unique, but that she also belongs in her community.
