In these books that continue Andrew's and his cousin Judy's search for their missing uncle, the children travel to the age of dinosaurs sixty-five million years ago and to an ice age fourteen thousand years ago. Greenburg includes many facts about the time periods, but the plot and characters are weak, and it is necessary to read earlier volumes to follow the story. Having been miniaturized in a previous book, Andrew and his cousin are deposited inside their uncle by a mosquito. As they travel through the bloodstream, readers learn about the circulatory system, the lungs, and the ear. Plot and character are secondary to teaching, and, as usual with this series, the end doesn't resolve anything. Copyright 2008 Horn Book Guide Reviews.

When their kidnapped uncle is hidden in the past, Andrew and Judy board a time-travel machine to rescue him. In [cf2]Time[cf1], the machine malfunctions, and they go back to the big bang. In [cf2]Earth[cf1], they move forward to the beginnings of planet Earth. While the books contain interesting facts, the plots are simplistic and readers are left hanging at the end. Andrew and his cousin Judy, shrunk to the size of beetles in a previous book, are blown into the Australian desert by a willy-willy, an Australian dust devil. As they try to get back to their uncle, they narrowly escape from all manner of insects and reptiles. Although the book is full of facts, the plot and characters are frustratingly thin.
