All of our bargain books are brand new, perfectly readable and represent a tremendous value! The bargain books are, however, publisher overstocks and remainders that TRW purchases at deep discounts. As a result, they may have a small mark through the UPC bar code or a small mark on the side of the book. This is simply to mark the books so they cannot be sent back to a publisher. Because of this, bargain books are non returnable to TRW unless they are damaged. Please consider this before ordering.

A cross between a social studies textbook and a tourist guide, each attractive, readable volume describes a state's history, geography, industry, culture, and famous citizenry. Glossy pages, detailed maps, helpful definitions (which are neatly incorporated in the text), and sharp reproductions of photographs and other artwork make the books useful for upper-elementary and middle school students in search of report resources. Time lines and ""Fast Facts"" sections are appended. Bib., ind. Copyright 1999 Horn Book Guide Reviews

Gr 4-8-Blashfield traces the history, culture, and natural wonders of Colorado. She glosses quickly over the Native American tribes, settlement by outsiders, and the mining that brought further development to the territory and highlights a few famous Coloradans before exploring the major towns and economic developments. Chapters are devoted to recreation, the natural world, and the tourism that is so important to the state's economy. The author includes up-to-date information about population, economics, and elected officials. The "Fast Facts" section provides answers to standard homework questions. Use of high-quality, full-color photographs and reproductions throughout enhances the presentation. The maps are accurate but in some cases faulty typesetting distracts from the otherwise high level of production and design. An update of a solid library resource.-Mary B.
